We cleared our back deck (where we have a hot tub) on Friday. Shoveled a path yesterday afternoon to use the hot tub. This morning, 3+ feet of snow out there. Last photo is all the snow I shoveled off the deck.

The cars were also both completely covered. We got our Jeep out and luckily the plow guy came and did the rest of the driveway. But then we had to dig out my friend Ivan’s Macan. Lots of fun.

I will!

Pretty frustrating looking at DOT webcams of clear skies, clean roads and still closed. My son is frustrated looking at nice conditions but no effort to open Squaw. Is everybody making decisions paralyzed by fear or just lazy?

I miss Alex Cushing.

"Old curmudgeon voice": back in the day, this was nothing!

If I were in Tahoe and had to work tomorrow, I'd be looking at a very long and probably unsafe drive home vs a great powder day tomorrow. I'd probably be calling in sick. The sad thing is: I'm not in Tahoe and I am sick (just a cold, but still). What a waste.

I don't mind the extra time and care taken for safety. Overall this season, they're doing a great job getting things open.

Plus there were inbounds slides last season. I saw a bunch of signs yesterday re: storm skiing safety. In addition to tree wells and skiing with a buddy, they included skiing with a beacon, which I don't remember seeing before.

It has been really slow at the shop today.
The drive here was pretty easy today. I left home 1 hr earlier than I usually do and was stuck in traffic until the state line, where they were turning people back around unless you show proof that you are a resident in Truckee or working in Truckee. I had proof and got through easy. The best part was that I was on the highway with about 10 other cars and snow removal equipment.
I ended up arriving at the shop 30 minutes early.
