This year is the first year that I am not working full time. So, I am more flexible with time and will be able to get out skiing more.
That said, once our local bumps open I will be working Sun-Tues in my ski shop. It’s fun, I get great discounts, learn a bunch of stuff, and have great...

The 37th annual Ski & Snowboard Expo comes to Boston next week. I haven't been to one in a long time. I was wondering if anyone has attended during the past couple of years and whether it is worth attending. It is being held November 8-11 at the Seaport World Trade Center...

Hello everybody,
I have been planning to start a snow forecast thread for a while now here, and now we are reaching winter, I thought this would be a suitable time to create a formal thread for those who are interested in the snow forecast, and making or reading them.

Guy In Shorts Oct 13 Killington Report
Cold moisture falling from the sky was painting the mountain peaks a lovely white. Total of three inches of winter were measured at the stake. Mountain Bikers were the only official ones to get first tracks but I do know of couple friends that snuck in a...

Winter seems to have come early to Alberta.
After a week of white-knuckle commutes, I was bust some stress with some short powder laps this last Saturday.
Apart from an open creek crossing, we were able to keep skis on from the highway to the top and back again. The snow in the alpine was...

Hey since it seems that the ski vibe is just starting to kick in (seems like Heat Miser was going to win) I was wondering what folks are planning on buying? Ski's, boots, jackets/pants, helmets- No gear just life changing powder chasing trips??? Lets hear it
I'll kick it off- picked up...
Since A-Basin has started making snow (https://theknow.denverpost.com/2018/09/21/arapahoe-basin-starting-snowmaking/196138/), I figured it was time for the annual threads.... So ladies, and gentleman....
Who's going to be the first to open?
My guess is Loveland on October 12th.

So this season required a trigger to start the thread.
What prompted me to do it?
Was it the 96 degree temperatures here in Placer County, home to Squaw Valley USA?
Was it me sitting in my swimsuit typing this next to the pool?
Was it the tent sales this weekend and the anticipated new ski...

Hmmm. Since the Tour de Big Bear is over and the chances of El Niño are increasing and MM started the new Mammoth thread, I figured we might as well get this one started also. El Niño is often good to So Cal - not always - but often so ... start those snow dances!
Bob and I will be skiing...
I just read that NOAA is predicting a 70% chance for an El Nino for the 2018/19 winter season. While it is rather early, and they will be updating in a months time, is it too early to start the conversation?
Who here puts a lot of faith into these predictions? What are your experiences as to...
