The Beavers are boring. Nobody needs to check them out. Vail trees are way better.

Spent significant time in the Beavers today for the first time. 7 laps and hit lots of rocks but wow! That terrain completely changes the Basin. Best tree skiing in the state and it's not close. Steep sustained and mostly perfectly spaced trees. The west facing stuff directly off Pali is spicy....not so perfectly spaced and steeeep. The gully at the bottom of that needs alot more snow. Glockenspiel Glade is intro to tree skiing heaven! I'm not giving away any secrets as people were parking the sides of hwy 6 for two miles down and hiking up by 10am but the only place I waited in line was at Lenawee and that was ~5 minutes. The Carnage of people trying to ski the two "blue" runs in the Beavers was hilarious. 50 yard slides down the steep icy (Rocky) pitches. Great day!

I have no idea why so many beginners come to the Basin

There are a ton at Loveland now. It’s Instagram. You can’t believe sitting at lunch listening to people contemplate riding “the big chair” aka Chet’s aka Chair 1. Which means that up to that point they were skiing Chair 2.

East Woods (the stuff directly off Pali) is kinda ugly - it needs clearing, IMO. I think you definitely want to drop in from the top, but depending on wind some of those upper aspects are shark infested. The goods follow for sure...will be curious if Beavers really shines in the spring when the winds tend to die down like much of the rest of the mountain.

Paging @nay - local news stations are predicting big snow hitting the mountains starting Wed. night and multiple storms continuing into Sunday. They're talking a couple feet of snow. What's the "real" story? :)

Sorry, I’ve been offline, although I have managed to get in some skiing.

I’m headed up tomorrow. This storm is supposed to hammer the Gunnison Valley, which means WSW flow initially, and as we’ve seen over recent seasons both A-Basin and Loveland can avoid getting shielded in that flow when it’s the western slope that is most favored.

Then it turns WNW and NW, but any place that doesn’t do well in the first blob of moisture without favorable orographics will probably struggle to catch up.

tldr version: I’d ski high up tomorrow along the Divide if viz permits, or further west, but it will probably be a good day generally.

Today at LL was very good (so yesterday must have been great). Lots of untracked lines still available off #9 (you just have to be willing to work for it). :)

Sunday was really nice. We were surprised by the amount of lines still available.

Monday was gorgeous...

...but the off-piste was refrigerated and crispy up high. Of course, a ridgeline groomer full of rollers isn’t the worst thing.

I took this shot because of the late light and not paying much attention. Kinda interesting clouds.

That 3 held together...didn’t notice it until the next ride up.

Somebody just won $3M lotto in Monument, so apparently we were supposed to play.

Im currently at Beaver Creek and light snow is coming down. It was 40º when I got here a few hours ago and its not much colder now, probably mid 30's. So this storm is coming in quite warm but thankfully humid as well.

:crossfingers: its going to be a powder day here tomorrow. If it gets colder it will be right side up :D

Skied Copper in the afternoon and it was nice. The drive was easy peasy. Tomorrow might be another story.

I would check the conditions on Rabbit Ears before making the trip.

5Am, add at least another inch. Its just Projectile vomiting here. (in the best way possible). the 5Am official snow report is 15" overnight. I am betting we are going to open with 18"

I cant capture images so here's the cam. click "live"

Yeah, that's the only thing that's really preventing me from going for it 100%. I have a healthy fear of that pass.

the winner is @Bruuuce who has a First tracks pass this AM. :thumb:

I will be skiing with @Jerez and crew this AM, can't wait. Heading straight for the Ridge. there was a solid 8" up there yesterday of moderately dense snow, this should make for a bottomless day.
