My little collection from being just skirted by the storm. From the southern edge, you could tell it was a big one with very large hail over a huge area causing damage. This is the one thing about Colorado weather that really gets old.

Supposed to be more large hail producing storms today. Tornado watch for all of the plains.

Question for the LL regulars: does anyone have info on Loveland's ownership interest in selling? While I love these cheap passes to lots of places, I'd hate to see Loveland be added to something like the Ikon pass and be overwhelmed with people (if that's possible given parking constraints and size of mountain). Is Loveland even on Alterra's radar? Just something I think about as I count down to Day 1 of the 18/19 season.

I've only chatted with the owner a few times, but my sense is that they don't really have an interest in selling. Additionally, it's not the kind of property that I think is too attractive to someone Alterra -- which hasn't shown any interest in ski area, only ski resorts. My understanding (@Muleski will correct me if I'm wrong) is that the value proposition for Alterra ain't primarily in the skiing, it's in all the stuff that surrounds it: the real estate, the dining, etc etc. Those things don't, and can't exist at Loveland.

Loveland is making pretty active moves by joining up with things like the Powder Alliance. I think you're safe for a few years at least.

See ya at LL this fall.

Well, the good news is my ride in yesterday wasn't too sporty. The bad news is that it wasn't because we had mechanical delay, followed by takeoff then turnaround about 20 minutes into the flight and land back at SFO followed by further delay causing us not to land until nearly 10:30 (almost 6 hours late) and well past yesterday's storms.

Drove by A Basin today on my way to Keystone and back. I though A Basin would look depressing without snow but it looked amazing. The weather was perfect today! Yes, those are the steep gullies in the last pic :eek::eek:

I was in A/C most the day, but when I went outside it really wasn't that bad.

Until last night when it was 90 degrees at 10 pm. That was weird.

Yesterday I went out at about noon and it was like an oven outside. Rode my bike at 6:30pm and it was warm but nice. I think it clouded up later in the afternoon which made it bearable.

Yep, it was a perfect day for a summit.

The boy and I decided to follow the goats, some of whom were knocking scree down on us while moving effortlessly above and we struggled.

But why take pics of ineptitude?

That I should not be here.

ms. nay on the summit as we finally get out of goat trouble. More goats on this side, and a Park Service volunteer who hiked in from the Montezuma side.

Today was the first day of the season for BML BBQ. On the way up, we asked if we could procure a summit beer as they were starting to set up.

Yes. Tall boy.
