I was at Deer Valley too for the last night of the moguls competition, Feb 8, 2020. I don't recall this incident, maybe it was a prior day?

These world cuppers are not the same species as the rest of us:)

They have master using the face of the bump to control their speed by using the front part of the ski, very little turn shape. Vid below starting at :27 has a great slow mo of this.


Another great ripper using an older technique on natural bump trails.


I have seen this live a couple of times and yes they are a different species.
