Kliban fan?
Most herons have a slightly skewed sense of humor, so yes, he probably is.

Whoah ...... not sure I'd want that beak so close to my eyes! :geek:
They have pretty strong beaks but they only ever try and get food from you. We were sitting there thinking we would have lunch. We gave up that idea very quickly as the Kaka are super quick getting to you. They have been observed opening backpack zips to get inside them. However there is zero tolerance on the island for people feeding any birds at all. I think the fine if caught feeding them is $5k

If there was any rubber around Kapiti Island they probably would, but there isn't any that I saw

But here is what Kaka are doing to exotic trees in Wellington, where I live

Here is a link to the sanctuary that was built in the middle of our city where the Kaka have flourished

And here is a link to the huge effort going in to remove exotic predators from NZ

I bet it is a hungry bear if it is just waking up. Stay safe.

They generally leave us alone and just want garbage to eat. I suspected that last week's garbage was the last week I'd be able to put it out the night before pick up instead of the morning of and I was right. I am on high alert for babies though as that will change the dynamic. Thankfully, Ginsburg wants nothing to do with them and just tries to drag me home if she senses them.

In other news ... our foxes are *not* vegan. Not that they need to be - there are enough rabbits for them and the owls and the cats and the coyotes - and leftovers for the crows.

I know this because my garbage went unraided four weeks in a row.
