From the Thunder Mtn. trailhead, up Casto Canyon, across the Cassidy trail and down Losee Canyon makes for an excellent 20 mile loop. Great area with a lot of good riding.

Sure with only few 3 or 4 weeks trips in SW of USA, and always on foot and never with mtb, I'm anything but experienced with trails there, but most of trails where we were hiking looked more like highways, or least what we would call "fireroads" here, and certainly nothing like our mountain/hiking paths (which I normally ride with bike ) look like. And as I still prefer some "high speed" trails over rooty/rocky sections where you ride 10km/h, those actually looked pretty cool for me. So not really sure about need for Danny MacAskill skills to ride that what I sawthere is no riding the national parks in Utah, but there is tons of riding NEAR national parks in Utah. Most hiking trails in utah would be unridable with out danny macskill levels of trials skill.
We saw that on MTB Project and are hoping to squeeze it in. Pretty amazing country in that area for sure.View attachment 80395

That's a good POV and those trails look fun!yesterday's afternoon shred. From the local Loam factory. This place is a ton different from just about everywhere else in Vermont in the fact that its never raked and never leaf blown, which means the ground stays nice and soft and IMO loam is way more predictable than hardpan scraped clean dirt that get hammered into dust. I have no idea why more places dont let loam happen.
Give me some feedback, I am trying something new than how I used to make POV skiing videos back in the day.
I just looked at the Snowbasin webcams, looks like a significant amount of snow up top.Had plans to do some lift served biking Saturday morning at Solitude. - Snowing up there pretty good right now so that's not looking too likely
yeah I guess I have only really hiked though the devil's garden at arches which for sure starts out as a fire road but there is no way to bike even if it was allowed. it is not allowed. in arches you can ride on the jeep road in the backside of the park but its not exactly fun....
I would just take your pedal+shoes and riding gears. Rent a bike in Moab. Go do Captian Ahab, and the whole enchillada at the very least. If you have more time add Slick Rock,Klondike trails and Bar M trail system.
Captian Ahab is just such a cool downhill trail.
@nay I know I am across the country but IMO those dissectors are nt really good on moon dust...i use to ride that stuff all the time...Heck the only place I honestly like the dissector is a dry on hardpack trail, its rolls nicely and has good side grip on hardpan.
The Specialized Hilly Billy or Maxxis Short as a front tire and something like HR2 rear would be great on that moon dust going up or Down. Roll slow as shit on packed dirt but you cannt win it all. That rock chute looks gnar before attempting I would want to go to double down over my normal exo tire, our rocks here are tend to be less jagged, and more slabby but we have to deal with sweaty rocks on more humid days something I have never seen in the inter mountain. If I ever get a van and start van lifing your area is my first stop is colorado.
