Why yes, that bike Does come apart for airline travel. Look very closely at the seat cluster.

A budget training wheelset from Boyd , yes that is a rim brake rim except notice that the braking track is ceramic finished and not machined bright.

Pratt had some really blinged out paintwork too, yes that is the Princeton wheelset under some blingy Challenge tires,

But honestly their gravel set up was much more to my taste,
Notice all the things going on in that stay design

More stay detail

The reverse back to front muscle look of the fork grew on me, yes the fender stay eyelet is removable with one bolt

The whole 1x thing does not work for me. I'll take less dish in the back with fewer, wider spaced cogs (8 is great) and the more durable wider chain that goes with it. Second ring up front and everything is good again.

Those are some beautiful bikes, and how can you not love a bike called The Bacon?!

Is this the 2018 NAHBS?

I hate 1x for one simple reason: with 2x on a rolling hill I can achieve the gear I need with 2 shifts back smaller front smaller whereas I need 4 or 5 shifts on a 1x. But I REALLY hate compact double like 50/34 because it is effectively like having two 1x side by side. You can't get a good standing gear and you can't do a CX type saddle hover. I'll take classic road, I'll take a touring triple, I'll take MTB triple but man oh man I despise compact double.

Just around the corner from Joe was the CoMotion booth, and the first true roadie to catch my eye
IMG_20181027_133117.jpg

Clean but oh so classy. Me first road wanty of the show.
The CoMotion booth also had herself's best of show thus far:

Yes a Gates belt but also an 18x Pinion drive internal to the bottom bracket, with 110.6 gear inches. She really couldn't stop about this bike.

That fork can clear 700x50

Just next door was the Paul Components booth; I barely got my phone in edgewise for all the disc brake ooohers and aaaahers.

Who's an electricals geek? Sinewave were there with some blingy anodizing:

Yep, that can run off your Dynamo hub, charge your USB device, and light your path, in emergency you can stick a phone battery extender in it ( at about 3/5 the lumens of the dynamo). Of course, if you just want to charge your phone or Garmin off the hub, you can get a USB stem cap:
