Okay, this is not telling me what I need to know about the state of things at Taos. Or maybe it is. :(
Unfortunately still very little open at Taos... the snowpack is somewhere around 51% of normal (the 51 in the chart below is the Snotel site for TSV).

I have heard that the wind has been quite bad there: they make snow, it blows away. Apparently there was a massive blowdown near the Bav? 1,000 trees? So the snowmakers have turned into sawyers.... Cross fingers that the upcoming weather change is real.

The wind absolutely demolished the Enchanted Forest cross country ski trails near Red River. Thousands of trees down, yurts torn apart, whole sections of forest flattened. They are closed until further notice. There must be a lot of clean-up to do at TSV as well.

Here is what I figured out day 1, if you want a beer bottom lift #1, need to do that before 1:00, after that sun goes down. Then you need to switch to Whistalstop for beer, get your beer there after 1:00.

My daughter asked me if I was gonna smash a beer can against my head like I did our last ski trip, I told her there is probably not enough snow for that.

Did you figure anything out for day 2? :)
Not yet, but the day is not over yet. Here is what been trying to figure out today is why girls throw their braw in the trees lift #2 right side, between poll 5 and pole 6. This one here, thrown perfectly….

I was told they will try to open Porcupine next and also working on the backside to have one run from top of 7A Honeysuckle to Rubezahl. I will believe it when I see it.
First few weekends were good for beginners, no crowds. But it is getting busier. Sunday was pretty crowded/congested. I left after an hour.
It is not bad if you just need to ski no matter what, but it is not good in Taos standard.
There is snow in the forecast for next week so fingers crossed. Last week was supposed to be 100% snow but they only got 2” dusting...

The forest service actually asked Mt. Bachelor to clean up the bra tree. I believe the patrol removed the ones which could be reached with a bamboo pole and left the others as "too dangerous" to try to remove.:)
