I saw them once, but I can't usually tell the difference between 6 2 and 6 6 anyway. I also lost track of how tall my son is after he hit 6 feet.

I'm what used to be "average " height but the younger generation looks like giants these days.

Probably everyone at your kids Prom will be seven feet tall.

Ok, maybe the girls will only be 6 10.

Mini-me about 25 years ago. I'm bent over in the background, fiddling with old skinny skis:

My mini-me - at the top of his first hike up the headwall at Jackson Hole with the beyond amazing Ernie.

The photo has a great story too - As we DS and I were walking back to our accommodation at the end of that day or the next day, this guy stops us and asks DS, Is your name X and were you up on the headwall? When it was confirmed that it was the same kid he told us that he worked at the ski shop we were walking past, but that he liked photography and he had taken a picture of DS up the headwall and if we came into the shop he would get a copy to us. (Shows that it always pays to have a couple of USB sticks in your bag).

A few days later Ernie also gave the three boys who had hiked the headwall photos that he had taken at the top and got developed.

What was also super cool for three 10 year old boys that day was that Ernie treated it like a bonafide hike - skis strapped to backpacks, basic avi awareness discussion, transceivers - they loved it!

Well... yes, some Mother's Day. Maybe not this year, but at some point I'll just push them off the cornice. :)

I have huge respect for parents of any age kids that can ski Pali. I never really appreciated the effort and energy it takes to get kids skiing, not to mention the cost.

It can be a lot of effort, but boy is it worth it. Pretty soon they will be self-sufficient, especially if you teach them to deal with their own stuff. But mine are now 21 and almost 18, and I still get, "So what base layers should I wear today?" lol. Really?

I was just looking at some old stuff from a LCC trip in 2009 or so. I miss those days ... we took them to Utah, Whistler, the Alps, Jackson Hole ... so fun to travel with. Then they get busy and have jobs and cars and friends, all good things. But take advantage of those golden years, 8-14ish (kind of depends on the kid by that point), and just go have fun.

Oh so true. It is still fun to ski with my adult son (and he will be at the Gathering) but there was something special about those years. Especially that first big Father-Son-only ski trip.

I don't know how it works with multiples, since we only have one. If I remember correctly, I think @MaryG takes her adult kids (semi-adult? I've forgotten) on ski trips one at a time.
