I agree the SST trends tilts this to a weak La Nina. IMO, more telling is what's happening up north. If the albedo effect holds then it will sustain the weak vortex. In addition, there has been recent research which shows the polar vortex has shifted over the past decade.

The Greenland snow & ice sheets has been increasing above the mean, similar to last year.

Yes, the atmosphere is also a Weak La Niña IMO. We are in a weak tropospheric vortex, and a strong stratospheric vortex. They need to couple at some point.
