Down here in the San Jose area it had been sunny and clear till Sunday afternoon when winds picked up and moderate levels of smoke blew in. Closing windows kept the unpleasant smoke smell out of my residence. Now Monday morning, is sunny and calm without smoke again. TV this morning showed horrible dense smoke covering all of San Francisco. I was just up there walking the north shoreline streets Saturday afternoon when it was wonderfully sunny with a minor breeze off the clear air of the Pacific and 70F temp. We are in a global northern hemisphere blocking pattern with its usual low up in Hudson Bay and Greenland keeping the jetstream stuck without any changes expected through an extended period.
