Unless I get an unexpected trip west, I think my season is done as of yesterday. We skied Devil's Head in Wisconsin yesterday. And while the morning started off at 23° by the afternoon it was 50° and quite slushy. Today it's 65°. In this area they aren't predicting any temps above freezing...
I was fortunate enough to meet Billy Kidd a couple weeks ago at the Colorado Snowsports Museum in Vail. We were discussing who needs a mountain to start a ski career? Apparently not these athletes (although by Midwest standards Lutsen is a mountain!).

Just got my kids (8 & 10) and wife started skiing this past winter and they enjoyed the experience. I was able to get back to skiing after 10+ years away too and am looking already to plan a couple local trips next year.

Hello all,
Me and my Friend both go to Michigan Tech, who has its own ski hill, and are avid skiers. For some quick background on Mount Ripley and the hills around us, we get a lot on snow in a ski season (usually) and can count on anywhere from 4-10 inches fresh every week. Ripley is 440...

I am so glad I stumbled across this forum! I was on Epic for a long time and was super sad when it closed, especially since TGR's site is no fun at all.
I'm in West Michigan and ski mostly Crystal Mt & Caberfae because they are fairly easy to get too but head to the Rockies a couple times every...
So my local ant hill, with 625 vert. feet of madness got themselves a PistenBully 600 added to their 'fleet' of groomers for this coming season. They groom the 'entire' hill at the beginning of the night session (6-10pm) to generally bring some pretty nice conditions to relax after work. I might...

@Core2's thread about "where you prefer to ski, mega resort or ski area", made me think. Where did you start skiing, was it at a destination resort or a local ski area/feeder hill? I will add "other" to the options for the people who learned in their back yard or even a ski deck.
Example but...
Michigan is having a rough start to the snow year, immediately following an amazing snow year, but resorts are making snow so that they could open a few runs and get the families excited before Christmas.
In this featured news story our good friend and Pugski member @Craig Scholten talks to...
