Finally the three-peat!

IMG_20210114_143625619.jpg

Today I was second fastest overall and fastest on age adjusted time. Fuxi was gracious in presenting me the trophy. Kristin won too and will have the twin trophy when last year's winner (absent due to recuperating) passes it on to her.

The storm last night blew so hard that our perfect track from yesterday had nary a new flake of snow on it. We had to reset 10% of the B-net which covers both sides of the 0.9 mile track.

The ride over Freemont Pass rarely fails to be beautiful.

Congrats on another win! Still hoping to make that race and see if I can get within 5 or 10 seconds of you. Please keep racing at least a few more years so I get the chance.

This weekend was the Wolf Cup race. We had a large turnout with some strong racers from Midwest Masters. MWM aynd RMM has a friendly competition for the Shin-Tuck cup. Both divisions age class world cup points are added up and divided by the respective number of racers. It goes back and forth frequently. Timing issues have delayed the results for that contest.

As the coach, I don't get much coaching. I also shoot the video, so vids of me are rare. Mike Bond offered my some tips as well as video over the past few days.

I was deliberately on the inside ski in the right footer for a quick, soft transition to the left footer. I can always get lower, but here I was emphasizing turn quality over aerodynamics.

So how many times is your name on that thing?
5 times in the last 6 years. The leader in wins with 7 is a fellow name Lee Kaufman. He converted the original plaster trophy to a bronze casting. That wolf is heavy.

There is no post for 2022. Did you win them? Congratulations on your victories!
Here are the forgotten photos for 2022.

The winners. Unfortunately Linda didn't get a chance to defend. On the Speed Fundamentals training day, she came down to the lift maze, caught the outside edge of her downhill downhill ski (sic) and high sided resulting in a concussion and a 2 week protocol off skis.

Thanks Doug for sharing the/your story with us. It is really amazing how, for some of us SKIING is such an important part of our lives. Your story is really inspiring and captures some of my life too. No Wolf Cup for everyone and you have some awesome memories and experiences. Thanks for sharing.
