Tapping threads on system binding plate?

Hi fellow skitalkers.

For installing bindings on modern system plates (Rossi R22/Salomon Lab plate etc) does anyone bother tapping the threads these days or just screw them right in with the actual screws supplied. Do you also drop any binding glue in there given there is no exposed wood core to protect.

I have a Snoli thread tap anyway so it's no biggie to do but any advantage/disadvantage to either approach.

I tap. If you decide to tap make sure you don’t cross thread your tap when setting the screws.

Don't tap if plastic. The risk of making the hole too loose, and then the screw backing out, increases. Tap a metal topsheet or all metal lifter plate, that's it.
