Pre-Gathering Alternate Activity (Non-Downhill Skiing) Recommendations

I'll be up in the Powder and Snowbasin area for several days before the Gathering with a group of friends and family. We typically try to do an alternate activity day such as snowshoe, cross country, snowmobile.

Any recommendations on places to consider? Intermediate level trails for on foot, 4-5 hours round trip max. We'll also need to rent gear, so outfitter suggestions would also be appreciated.

Ogden Nordic at north fork park. They have nordic skiing, fat bikes, snowshoes etc...

Last time I went from Park City to Snow Basin (straight north, along some river, NOT on expressway), we saw xc skiing trails and some people skiing. My friend who live in Park City said there're a lot of pro-xc skiers training there. The setting looks very scenic. But I didn't ask about rentals and outfitters. Though I bet you can find some information in Park City.
