The sunset around here gets us more color, and beer at 5:00 AM is just not the same.

One more poll while we're waiting for snow: Sunrise or Sunset?

I'm going to split the hair that sunrise is really about dawn. When the world transitions from dark to light and all the colors come in.
Then there's about 20min of so of meh as things just get brighter and waiting around for the sun, and the actual sunrise is underwhelming as it's light out already. But then you can take some interesting pictures
If you're going to do a sunrise at some vacation spot or special activity, you really need to time that activity to include dawn to get the full experience.

Did anyone already mention morning coffee in the car, watching the sunrise while driving to the slopes, knowing you will make it for first chair?

Definitely sunset. Two shots I took from the desert in Dubai a few years ago.

It is a problem tho - you have a nice shot of the moon and Venus - and then coffee steam effs your lens up.
by the time you find the microfiber in your pocketses, that great big showoff Sun has washed all the rest out.
One of the nice things about the morning is that fewer people are watching you sneak a bike past the gate.
But the creek crossings get...sporty.
