I picked up some deacons at a incredible price at a swap, however the top sheet and the top metal layer has some significant damage. I was planning to cover the damage in epoxy and maybe paint for astetics. It looks like someone else tried to paint over it all ready. Any suggestions?

Some West Epoxy with the 403 filler will do the trick. From the pictures it looks rough enough to key in pretty well. It may or may not hold . I hope you didnt pay much for them!!

Top chip not a big deal except cosmetics. 2nd looks like the sidewall has been ripped out which has much bigger consequences.

Guess I'd epoxy them and cross my fingers but A/B test them to check flex /stiffness is still equal in the pair. And be prepared for a failure.

They will ski just fine as is or epoxy filled. I'd try to patch it ONCE. Then forget about it either way. Nice score!
