When I moved to Reno, I missed a good thunder storm like those we had in Michigan. I loved the smell of the air during a good storm and the cleansing feeling of a good rain.
Now I have concern when I hear thunder and see lightening, mostly because storms like that in the high desert don't bring much rain, and they tend to cause more damage than good.
We experienced such a thunder storm last night which started two fires on Pevine (the Peak featured in this announcement)
I don't see fire from our house, but I sure smell the smoke.

Ugh! I hate dry thunderstorms because fires inevitably follow. I am happy to say that we are back to our usual heavy rain with our thunder. Hopefully this year will be a good snow year and our lake will fill back up.
