Cheers to 15 Years

We appreciate all the support over the past many years. We have had a lot of fun, and learned some things along the way. We hope to see you in the mountains soon.

Our Story

The Beginning

2003 -2005

In 2003, Jim Satloff and Dan Chalfant incorporate and trademark Liberty Skis. The first office is a storage space in Avon, Colorado. They contract with a Canadian factory to produce the first Liberty samples after winning $32,000 at the Mandalay Bay craps tables at the SIA Snow Show in Las Vegas.
Quality Control
2006 - 2010
We receive valuable feedback from our first ski magazine tests, and set to work finding the best materials from around the world for each component of the skis. The search for quality starts to pay off as Liberty wins accolades worldwide for our innovative use of bamboo, coupled with progressive ski shapes. We refine the bamboo laminate core and begin to use it in all Liberty models.

Leader
2011 - 2017
Liberty solidifies our position as the leader in bamboo innovation with skis like the best selling Helix and Double Helix. We continue to refine rocker concepts and prove that even fat skis need to carve effectively. We sell out in 2 months. Factory expansion and a new warehouse in the Netherlands help with production and delivery challenges. New Reichmann tuning machines are added to the factory, providing ride-ready factory finishes.

East to West
2015 - 2017

Narrower, stronger, and lighter, with the addition of carbon fiber in the Origin models and titanal in the expanded Variant line. Our new production facility is now firing on all cylinders, with the quality and finish of our skis being to the highest standard.

Performance
2018 sees a continuation of our focus on front-side performance with the launch of the new V-Series. The new V-Series becomes available in 3 waist widths (76, 82, 92) and features our innovative Vertical Metal Technology (VMT) core. The new Origin112 debuts, with rave reviews from mountain towns across the country. We bring back a storied name with fresh, new models: the Helix98 and Helix 84, the first youth ski available from the Liberty brand. The new Helix98 is slimmed down to a 112 waist but with the poppy twin-tip DNA of the original Helix line.

Liberty shared the above story in an e-mail to their followers and we thought it was worthy to share with the Pugski community.

Where is their factory? I never see it mentioned anywhere, not in the literature,, website, or on their skis.

Our shop nearly sold out of the Variants, and the women’s as well.

Pretty sure they are made in China. All the ones I've seen have been. Not saying that is good or bad, many brands are made there including numerous DPS skis.

They print "Born in Colorado" much larger on them.

Seeing that China has the worlds best bamboo, it would make sense to build them there, especially if your QA is up to par.
