I checked out the webcams before heading up and decided that my limited vacation time would be better spent when there is less brown and more white on the ground - soon, let's hope.
Home Run looked like a very narrow strip.
On the other hand, it looked pretty empty.
Home Run is more than wide enough for high speed GS turns without worrying about other skiers. You can see how wide Home Run is in the upper left here. You can also see the terrible lift lines.
The snow was fast with a mostly soft surface and full coverage.
Easy to open it up at real speed - just fantastic. I was initially at A-Basin because my son and his friend were “feeling A-Basin” despite my constant nudging of lines vs. no lines, crowds vs. no crowds, and a much longer run over more varied terrain.
So I ditched them when A-Basin was backed up out of the 4 lane corral midday and skied Loveland for 7 laps, and then went back and we skied a few more at A-Basin. Which is just buzzing and there’s no denying the vibe. Kinda fun to have both on the same day.
A-Basin early...
Terrible Luv parking.
