LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – Mark Zuckerberg has friended the West Shore.

In the past six months, the Facebook CEO quietly purchased two adjoining estates on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe near Tahoe City, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The 1930s Carousel Estate, roughly 3 acres at 2340 Sunnyside Lane, went for $22 million in late 2018. The neighboring Brushwood Estate, about 6 acres at 2360 Sunnyside, fetched $37 million in January 2019.

In July 2018, the Carousel property was on the market for $25 million, the Reno Gazette Journal reported in a story about pricey Tahoe homes then for sale. The Brushwood property had been on the market for $45 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.

"The luxury market at Lake Tahoe is as strong as it has ever been," said Jean Merkelbach, a leading Tahoe Realtor with Engel & Volkers. "This surge is the result of new tech money from Silicon Valley and the steady rise in California taxation."

I guess we should bring over a fruit basket and introduce ourselves to our new neighbors. ;) I wonder where they will be skiing?
