For the first time in my many, many years of BOA use on bike shoes, I had one fail today when I tried to release it. No impact, etc. It just came off in my hand.

I've got a warranty claim in to BOA for a free replacement, so stay tuned!

Maybe I should post this in the boot forum, and reopen that can of worms!

I did not die, but I also received no response from BOA, despite indications that I probably would here from them in ten minutes?!

But it was Friday before a long weekend, so not worried yet.

As long as you gave them sufficient info, a repair kit would be mailed out.

It should be easy peasy. I adore BOA, and have them on a variety of footwear applications - including one pair of my Simms wading boots (and I wish that Simms used them more frequently). The lower Animas has a lot of silt bars that just cakes everything up. I can't think of a more demanding environment. I've only ever had one failure - when a puppy chewed the knob up.
