Those of us who want to take great photos of the backcountry know lugging around a heavy DSLR and a bunch of lenses isn't fun. Smartphones are now capable of taking decent photos, but the knock on them is the quality of the add-on lenses and sensors capable of handling the dynamic range needed in the mountains. Well, one problem is being solved with Zeiss producing some quality glass for smartphones. I imagine the sensors will get better and larger so within a few years most photo-nuts won't mind taking only their smartphones to the mountains.
