Norwegian startup has apparently developed a turbofan propulsion system for skiers. Their vid:

Product name: "ThrustMe". Uh..., hmmm.

I checked their website ( http://www.thrustme.no/ ) & the specs say the current setup provides 15-30min of propulsion and battery recharge @ 6hrs.

The vid looks cool. I'd probably get irritated by the extra bulk and weight. BUT: to be able to ski uphill - THAT would be a cool experience for a while.

Things could get real interesting using this thing on 12"+ of blower pow.

Likely limited to groomer type runs in lower angle terrain. Interesting concept, not sure 15-30mins on on time is worth the hassle.
If I tried it, I would promptly turn it on and head DOWNhill and see how much faster I could go on my race skis! Turbo booster!

first wow it goes up hill really fast.....

second I am really curious what size brushless motors it uses and what size battery it uses.

30kg of thrust is not that much. my mini quad can put out about 5kg and it only using a 1300mah battery and 4 2205 KV motor. The entire drivetrain only cost about 50 dollar american....

There a AP quad copter motor can can put out 30kg from one motor... and they do not cost anywhere near as much as the pack . S

Some Lipo Porn

This quad can produce about 150kg of thrust....

I really think this could be built far cheaper than the asking price.
