In previous years I have shared winter solstice greetings with family and friends. It occurred to me recently that my 2015 greeting might appeal to some on this ski forum.
I find it marvelous that we can transmute cold and snow and the breath robbing, muscle fatiguing, effort of ascending alpine terrain against gravity's relentless resistance into the ebullience of skiing. Of course, few of us, these days, actually climb for our downhill turns. We ride lifts. But skiing's pioneers did. Their vision and persistence and strength opened the possibility of downhill flight on snow.
May you, in your own way, transmute the cold and dark of Solstice Days into light and joy!
