Thank you. It's very popular nowadays so that's awesome there are so many choices of places to play.

So far we've played at our 2 main ski mountains which i like. One is right where our condo is and the other is 10 miles up the road. They are on mountain and combine hiking which makes it more of a work out which is cool. Not necessarily looking for free. Magic's disc golf is $5 for 9 holes or 10 for 18. Bromley's is $18 for the entire course but this includes the chair lift ride since it's up on the mountain. If you hike up it's free so that's what we did. I wonder if all disc golf places on mountains or are they in flat areas similar to golf courses? I definitely like on mountain better.

I never got too into disc golf. I know a guy who is semi pro and was paid to fly to Arizona for a big tournament.

Not all disc golf is in the mountains. There's Burgess on the cape and Borderland south of Boston.

This disc golf resort in Maine was for sale but the listing is down now. https://www.timberstoneadventures.com/

I posted this in the Catchall food thread but it is a summer trip to Oak Island NC
View attachment 77226
After spending a few days on Oak Island NC and a day at Bald Head Island NC we drove to Cary NC and then heading back up north when ever. Sometimes retirement has it's advantages.

Mostly getting bullied into sharing my granola bars with this alleged race horse, because god forbid he should starve without his rightful .5 of a protein bar.

Stopping in on the board briefly. Every day I wake up is Saturday. The end of my ski season shut off early as I spent 3 week long road trips down in our deserts photographing wildflower landscapes. The below was during April at Joshua Tree NP.

Then this summer my first Sierra Nevada backpacking trip was 6 days up the South Fork of the San Joaquin River into Kings Canyon NP. Below shows the cascades out of Evolution Valley with Mt Mendel and Mt Darwin in the background. Next week will spend 4 nights up in the Tahoe area in Desolation Wilderness. A few more backpacking trips queued up now through September as the huge snow pack finally melts away and green and flowery high country beauty rises. Then August 18 have a ticket for The Rolling Stones concert in Santa Clara.

All along have been doing fun day trips up in San Francisco and in fact expect to be up there tomorrow. Below was last Saturday from the jetty across the yacht harbor towards Marina Green.

I've been indoors staying out of the 100º F heat and oppressive humidity watching self help videos on YouTube.

Thankfully, the H&H finally moved out of here yesterday and and I'm back to getting lost in the woods:)

Anyway, the following are my two favorites of the week -

Visited family in South Carolina and the outer banks. My first actual vacation, I think, since fall 2017. It turns out that taking at least a week really IS much more effective than taking a day here and there.

@Monique looks like a nice time. Glad you had a good vacation, you deserve it. Playing disc golf again this Saturday. Lost a driver last Saturday so need to buy a new one. I now know why disc golfers have multiple discs...…………… Sunday we're volunteering at a bike race at killington for payment in lift tickets. Looking forward to Buckcherry at the casino next week, I'm trying baby goat yoga for the first time on 8/17 and cooler in the mountains outdoor concert series in Killington will be fun on the 17th. Lastly Kiss in Saratoga Springs on the 24th will be a blast. Vermont is dropping to the 50's at night and bonus pre season football is on the horizon so I'm over the hump otherwise known as June and July. I'm normally pretty depressed this time of year and my friend Jen noticed I'm not this time around and it's all condo related. Going to the mountains in the summer soothes my soul, I just like being there.

Another day out on the Atlantic Ocean fishing for fluke off the coast of NJ. Caught several short fish under 18 inches and 5 keepers between three guys.

This is one fish I returned to the sea, a Cutlessfish. They have very big teeth and are aggressive.

This feels like a "what did you do on your summer vacation" essay :)

Okay.
The first day on my vacation, what I did on my summer vacation, the first day on my vacation, I woke up.Then, I went downtown to look for a job.
Then I hung out in front of the drugstore. The second day on my summer vacation, I woke up, then I went downtown to look for a job.
Then I hung out in front of the drugstore. The third day on my summer vacation, I woke up.

Well I took the "camper" out twice a third fell through. I have at least two more trips planned.
Spent a lot of money and time and practice to go to the nationals and stick my head up my butt for 3 of 4 stages in the individual. Had a bad offhand, rode the trigger in sitting rapid that caused a miss still scored 87/100 with the zero, put my windage on the wrong way for prone rapid at 300 yards and shot a beautiful group that would have about have mostly been in the X ring (about the size of a snuff can).... exactly 4 minutes of angle to the left of the x ring at the proper height.

Yes that is a heavy coat with a sweatshirt under it. It wasnt bad, low 90's for temp.

Took the kayak out for the first time in a couple years. That was a blast.

In the summer I find myself in places that I hope to spend in the winter. Went to Yosemite and Mammoth recently for 2 weeks for tent camping, though I doubt I'll spend any winters in a tent... Been going up to the Sierras for the last 5 years, a beautiful part of the world and easily accessible minus the fact that one has to drive through Adelanto/Victorville if you are heading to the eastern side (the stop lights are interminable!).

Went to Tahoe one year and that would have been a nice trip except for the bees (astoundingly annoying and everywhere all at once between 7am and 7pm) and then I lost my car key in the lake and forgot to bring a spare. After much invective we all took a ride to Reno in the tow truck. Good times.

Here's some pics from this year's trip.

5 Sept Guy in Shorts Report
Dawn patrol on Kent Pond enjoying some morning coffee. Warm water with cool fall air made for the perfect match. Calm water was often rippled by the colony of tail slapping beavers. Swimsuit seemed out of season as the time to switch over to shorts is approaching. Made winter plans with a fellow morning paddler for a real Pico dawn patrol. Time is fast approaching to put away the summer gear.

@Guy in Shorts Awesome photo...................................... really awesome photo. Haven't been paddle boarding this summer yet. Time's going bye bye, will put on list for next season. Another month or so left for disc golf,, might actually be a little sad as we put our gear away til next spring. We volunteered at a downhill bike race at the beast and got paid in a lift ticket for each of us. We'd love to come to your playgorund mid winter on a weekday when the entire mountain is open. Perhaps we can meet up and you can give us a real tour :)

Friend who took that shot calls predawn the Blue Hour. She takes amazing photos. We got out for the last three days. September mornings rock. Of course we can tour.
