I don't know if you know this, but red is the fastest color.
I still had my first mountain bike up until 2 years ago. I got it new in college - it was a '92 or '93 Giant Sedona. Freaking heavy - probably 30 lbs. I would have kept it, but it's harder to get away with storing multiple bikes than it is to have multiple skis, especially when you live in a condo. I put on some comfort bars about 10 years ago and had been using it as a city bike in SF/Oakland for a while, since it had become a beater. Sold it on CL for $100 as a great bike for Burning Man given it had survived 20+ years with little maintenance - and had purple grips .
