I had my shock seal replaced this late spring. I've got 643.2 mi and 91h 9m on the bike this year. Is this leaking abnormal? Should it be serviced right away? This is a couple rides worth of leaking.
It appears from the pics that you are not leaking oil but you are seeing the shock lube from the foam lube ring designed into the shock. If the shock is running smoothly, I wouldn't worry about it and get it serviced yearly. The lube is good to reduce stickion in the shock range of motion.
Thanks, @ZionPow . I thought it looked more like grease/lube than oil, too. It is running smoothly. I should have said that the hours and miles were since I had it serviced.
The hours/miles is from Strava. I'm not obsessive, but I like to see how I'm doing compared to myself. A measuring stick of my skills and conditioning.
I'll be having it serviced, along with the fork, over the winter. I agree, service in the spring is a PITA.
