I'm trying to get a good picture with his new stylish jacket, but he's not feeling very well.
...
You can see it in his eyes. He's hurting most of the time. He did rally for the vet techs when he got his ultrasound. One commented, "He is quite the charmer with the ladies." He has large masses and/or scar tissue on his liver, and a big mass on his adrenal glands (or something like that). He has an ear infection, he has discharge from one of his eyes, and every time he eats, his tail tucks between his legs afterwards. It would be possible to do more procedures to find out exactly what is wrong, and maybe there's some chance it could be treated, but at this point I just want to stop poking and prodding this poor guy, who is clearly in pain the majority of the time, and who is getting weaker and weaker. I don't want to wait until he can't walk by himself or is just clearly miserable and doesn't even take joy in the outdoors anymore.
So my plan is to take him to some of his favorite places (well, the places where I have fond memories with him) over the weekend. And then next week, say goodbye.
