I am curious as to whether the Taos ski school/ski week currently lives up to its historic reputation with the advent of new management and the

Increased crowds attributed to multi area passes.Does the school advocate a specific method or adapt to the student? What is the usual class

size? Is there a set mix of drills and free skiing coaching?

Seriously doubt Taos will have hugely increased “crowds”. They can only hope.
There’s a fair amount of info posted on the dki week somewhere.

Yes! Here:

And this is a great read, too, particularly for your question, @Codger :

If I recall correctly, that was in a thread after last years mini-gathering, along the lines of "what did you think of your ski week group & instructor?"

The mix of drills vs terrain-based coaching vs guiding varied a lot, depending mostly on the skier level.

Edit to add -- as Mendieta just said.

No, Taos hasn’t gotten much more crowded.

The ski week is still the same. Not much had changed other than the splitting process at the front end.
The new kinder and gentler approach to the split is not my cup of tea. Things usually do shake out pretty well in a day or two.

Max class size is 7. Two quad chairs load with the instructor. The usual class size is around 4 or 5.

The Taos ski school is loosely aligned with PSIA RM but with a heavy dose of Taos flair. With the altitude, abundance of advanced terrains and bumps, the emphasis for most advanced ski week is efficiency, terrain selection and line choice.

The instructors are usually first rate for the advanced classes. Most had been there 20+ years. They can tailor the class to fit the students. Just have to speak up.
