Surprise Gift....Need Advice

Going to get my son a surprise pair of skis. He's at UCLA and skis Big Bear and Mammoth. 50/50 skier, expert level. 6' 165lbs. Gimme some ideas. Will likely put the Protector Bindings on them.

Find a good ski shop where he lives or skis, then get him a gift card. So much better than a wrong choice based on some internet expert going on next to no information about your son. Not that my advice isn't sterling, but you know, everyone else is questionable.
