I used 1x4 and ran it through the table saw to put the bevel on it. Then cut it 2” wide and it set in the toe pieces perfectly. No sanding. Made 16 blocks in no time. Next week I am going to use those blocks for an in car ski holder.

Please clarify cut it 2" wide. How was it then assembled? Do you mean that you only used 2 inch wide for the toe pieces? Thanks

Yes. Unlike @Philpug original design I cut the the blocks only 2” wide. It saved me the time having to do all of the sanding and shaping, especially since I don’t have a nice sander. I also added a board at binding height so they wouldn’t destroy the drywall.

Understood. Good idea about adding the additional board to protect drywall.

I did a search to see why horizontal is frowned upon and in one thread Phil posted a link to hangemright.com which sells that part that goes into the toepiece.
Ok so not sure if you put up the wrong URL or if the company lost the domain, but this is now an Asian Porn website. Perhaps they also sell toe pieces for hanging skis but I did not explore the site ... will let someone feeling more adventurous take that on.

Obviously, people here have more time and skis than I do, but...

Button Ski Rack is not out of business and he sells toe piece hangers and complete racks. I ordered from him off Etsy in June and he was very nice, ships out of Utah. The rack was going inside the house for off-season, climate controlled storage, so it had to look nice too, which it does! Quality Product!

I am curious why you have a clothes pin on the bottom of the Nordicas?

hangemright is out of business.
Either that or they discovered a more profitable line of après ski business :roflmao:
Actually, they were sued and now they are out of business. Personally I liked hangemrights design better.

Organizing skis can be a PITA so @Andy Mink and I bounced some ideas off of each other while walking the aisles of Home Depot and came with a wall rack that will hold 14 pair of skis organized and safely...all for about $20.00

1 2x3
1 1x3 (cut in 3" lengths)
5 3/8x5" lag bolts
28 Deck Screws
Wood Glow Glue
Belt Sander

The part that takes the longest was shaping the 3" 1x3's to be shaped like a ski boot toe lug.

The skis hang safely away from the wall and no risk of falling over. It is also handy for when I am tuning the skis.

Now to finish off the rest of the walls so I can put more skis up.
The best part of these racks is that I can have one in the garage for wet skis and another in my basement for dry skis. Such an easy builder too.

I'm going to take a stab at this question: to hold the cable that runs below the skis. Why the cable needs holding (and what is it for?) leaves more unanswered questions, though. ;-)

ogsmile @Jwrags @Doug Briggs - Very silly answer here! Because my 3 y.o. daughter was playing with clothes pins and decided to clip an extension cord to it. (check out those sweet, pink K2s! Thanks @waxloaf)

Also, @dbostedo is totally correct, I was just trying to say that Button Ski Racks is a different company that makes a similar product. Sorry about any confusion.
