Christy Sports is having their annual Loveland Demo Day on Saturday. I went last year and it was awesome. They had PLENTY of awesome skis to demo including a good selection of skis from premium brands like Kastle and DPS. Last season it was a powder day. This year its almost 100% certain that it wont be so il be demoing narrower skis most likely (which I did not do last season).

See, if you were snobbier about skis that wouldn't happen ... you need to go and train up.

Being snobbier doesn't always work either... I figured I'd demo some Stocklis "just to try them". Now I have the ones on the right :

This is where training volume counts.

Just like it takes a certain number of miles in the legs to do MCM right, it takes a certain number of dings in the wallet to do premium demo day right :D

Well it won't be a powder day, but it will be snowing (forecast for 3"-5"). I'll be there.

In the Midwest 3" - 5" is a powder day!

Met Mark @Noodler on the demo tents today and we skied a bunch of skis and had tons of fun. Conditions were crappy hardpack with variable light but early in the day it was really nice with good light and low wind. Given the conditions I mostly demoed hard snow biased skis, will post a review thread later but here is the list in the order I demoed them:

Kastle MX84 176cm

Kastle MX89 180cm

Head Kore 99 180cm

Head Monster 88 177cm

Head V10 177cm

Dynastar Speed Zone 12ti 182cm

Kastle MX99 184cm

Blizzard Bonafide 187cm

Blizzard Rustler 9 188cm

Nordica Enforcer 93 185cm

I liked all the skis but loved some...

THAT must've been a contrast and a half.

Do those ^two. The others are fairly known quantities.

Yep.

The V10's felt like a Monster 88 light. A bit turnier but nothing crazy like the specs suggest. I preferred the Monsters for sure but the V10 is a REALLY good ski for a LOT of folks.

The MX99 felt somewhat similar to the Bonafide (a hair more refined) but the tip of the MX99's seemed better suited for softer snow (I suspect since there was not any to be found today). The Bonafide is a tad turnier but still happy when going really fast and making large turns. The Bonafide was more maneuverable at slower speeds and was more willing to slide while still having tenacious edge grip. Love that ski. It makes even crappy hardpack seem fun. Its a ski I can trust.

The Ruster9 188's I didnt love but its a good ski. It should be great in 180cm for bumps and tight trees at moderate speeds but as speed increases and terrain opens up the Bonafide is worlds better obviously. I preferred the Enforcer 93 185's. Damper and smoother while still being pretty fun and quite good at speed in rougher hardpack.

I LOVED the MX89 180cm. Tenacious Edge grip and speed when u want it and easy and fun when you want to take it easy. Super versatile and has a large performance envelope. It reminded me a lot of the Monster 88, call it a slightly improved version of it.
