There is a debate going on at Chez Ziggy.
The weather has dropped a bit which has inspired @Philpug to start wearing socks, but he's still in the mood to enjoy wearing his sandals.
While we were out a few days ago, I realized he was wearing socks with his sandals, which didn't strike me as good fashion sense.

Today we're getting ready to go out and I see him putting this combo together. I said, ......Ummmmmm No!
    Phil insists that its okay.

Acceptable for walking around the campsite or in the comfort of your own home...a line is drawn after that; a big bold line.

Jon Mathews, one of my professors in grad school, had a saying that covers this. (He was explain selection rules in particle physics, but still...)

It doesn't matter. I don't wear sandals because when I did, I always got rocks in my shoes.

No. I think the only time I'd find it acceptable it to/from a bike ride where you'll be putting bike shoes on.
