I finally got around to Phantoming? Phantomizing? my Enforcer 93s last week with the original or 1.0 (got it through the kickstarter, but just didn’t have time last year). I applied it to a new base grind & with only one day on the snow so far in SoCal, I concur with others’ experiences. A couple of slightly sticky runs for the last bit of residue to wear off and then smooth gliding! At least to me there was no apparent difference from waxing last year & I was able to easily pass people on the flats. There were some patches of actual sticky snow that were still noticeable, but i’m sure almost any ski wax would have had trouble. Apparently not Phantom 2.0 though!
So now that there’s 2.0, it’s supposedly even better^^^, and shops can apply it in house now (so people’s experiences will be more consistent), I have a feeling that a whole lot of skis are going to be Phantomized as stories like @Slasher‘s make the rounds. I’d like to try 1.0 & 2.0 back to back to see if I could tell a difference, but the 1.0 is working so far.Conditions today: +2C, damp & heavy overnight snow. Whoah ... everyone in the pod kept complaining how slow and sticky the snow was, while I kept zooming by. The running joke (which eventually become annoying to them and hilarious to me) was that I kept asking "is the snow sticky?" because I honestly could not tell.
