I just picked up a pair of Mindbender 99 Tis and am wondering what to do for edge angles. These are going to be primarily softer snow, out west skis vs my Salomon Blasts. I run 1/3 on the Blasts should I go 1/2 on these? Thanks.
Thing is, sometimes even on a powder day, you can have to traverse ice etc.I haven’t really figured out why to not set the edge angle to 3 degrees.
People warned me not to (and even suggested de-tuning) on my snowboard while learning, but I’ve been loving the stability in ice/hardpack of 1/3.
For wide skis nearly exclusively for powder, I suspect the side edge angle will be irrelevant, so I’d just use whatever tool you already own. Like if you could only set it to 1/4, I’d probably shrug and say go for it. I’d be nervous, but my nervousness isn’t really relevant to real world performance. If you own a 94 degree tool you already know what you are getting in to. Same is probably true for a 93 tool.

So is there a downside to a 3* side edge?
It lasts slightly less then 2deg but that's so not an issue for me, that I never bother with this "downside".So is there a downside to a 3* side edge?
Mindbender 99 Tis
I am going to ski them and not worry about it.More to the point, are you going to wrap hockey tape around the tips? Or are you going to go full on with FiberFix?
