Scenario #1: JaneB was over-prepared due to anxiety about the lesson, stood and waited a half hour, but the one year old and the two mysterious extras did not show. She was so relieved that she bought the whole ski school beers after work.

Scenario #2: JaneB's boss gave the lesson to a seasoned LIII with 30 years of experience, who worked with the three one-year-olds for the two hours on the bunny slope after which he walked off the job forever.

Scenario #3: Jane B took the lesson with the three one-year-olds, and spent almost the whole two hours buying them snacks and keeping them happy in the lodge, because it was zero degrees outside. She got three $50 tips.

Scenario 4: The father turned out to be the crown prince of ******, took one look at Jane B's ability to communicate with his 20 month old prodigy, then bought her a nice castle in the local mountains so she could train the precious baby for the 2032 Winter Olympics.
a 13-yr-old in the Olympics would be incredible. Even more impressive in skiing, as there would be no opportunities to earn the requisite FIS points (though ... FIS is pretty corrupt, could make it happen probably)

There have been kids that old in Olympics, especially action sports and women's gymnastics. IIRC, there is an 11 year old in Ping pong that has qualified for this Olympics.

Truth. I was really just thinking about alpine skiing/racing. Not sure youth would be a huge advantage in any snow-sliding sports (maybe aerials w/ the gymnastics connection? Would think 13 would be too young for pipe, but maybe slopestyle or big air?) Plus ... most sports now have minimum ages

And give table tennis some more respect ...

Gymnasts have to be 16, but some are 15 in qualifying meets. (Unless we're talking about the Chinese team from the Beijing olympics, but that was illegal).

I think it's the same for other sports - the last winter games were supposed to be Kelly Sildaru's first before she tore her ACL, and she'd been owning the podiums at other competitions for years before then.

Age minimums for sports in the Olympics vary. Currently kids need to be 16 to compete in gymnastics and figure skating. China has gotten in trouble (shocker) because of issues with ages. I am not sure about skiing. The age is set by the international federations so the FIS would set the age.

2032 because the because covid19 (and covid20-covid25) also interrupted the olympic schedule for 12 years. Only after a decade of reduced human carbon emissions was climatechange averted and the snow returned.

The inaugural Post-Virus Winter Olympics I were revived by the Crown Prince who restarted the games with 1 participant in the sole event of Do-a-Pizza Do-a-FrenchFry.

sorry got a little dark there.

Scenario 4 -- Jane met her 1 year old, only to be surprised that there was a error on both the date of birth and age. Instead, she met a handsome, 35 y/o divorcee who was looking for not only a perfect carve, but love as well. Jane was surprised to find that the guest was not only a great guy, but loaded as well. Hilarity ensued, and Rick is now booked for Friday afternoons through 2032.

The child is 20 months old. The lesson is Friday the 13th.!!!
Two hours with a one-year-old!, ...must include nap-time.
I skied with my niece when she was 18 months and her two kids when they were 18 months & although they could handle it, it was always in small doses for short amounts of time.

I've seen success like this with an almost 2 year old.
We'd like to know, how did it go?

Yeah, I'm on Team "Birth Date Was Written Down Wrong."

A friend who teaches texted earlier this season freaking out that she was scheduled to teach a private for a 50-something man who specifically requested a female instructor. Turns out the lesson was a gift for his teenage daughter, the actual student.

Kid and parents showed up together - kid skied circles around the parents, who threw a tantrum that Jane couldn’t make them magically better and demanded the ski school fire her immediately. When that didn't happen they hired the attorney with the most annoying commercials.

Thanks for the giggles. We all need them these days. But...

Remember, truth is often stranger than fiction. Hoping to hear the real story.
