The hard part now will be keeping people ON the trails. That includes bikes, walkers, OHV, and horses. The grass will come back quickly, though it will probably be cheat grass which is bad. The mahogany and sage will take years. It's interesting the bench itself didn't burn.

I found that interesting too but the bench is a composite material.

As for the growth.....so sad to see the mahogany and sage gone.

Usually they melt. Have experience with that on the claims end.
From my experience it takes a lot to get that kind of compsite going but when it does, there's no stopping it.

There have been some wildfires in Utah too.
This was the view near the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon on 28 June 2020:

I grabbed the next two photos from the internet.
The smoke came from a 10k acre fire about 20 miles away near Provo.
knolls fire 10k acres near saratoga springs ut.jpg

They are calling it the Knolls Fire. The nearest town was Saratoga Springs near Utah Lake, where 13,000 people were under evacuation orders yesterday.

There's a bad one down by Vegas close to Lee Canyon ski area and one near Tucson and Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley is in the evacuation zone. Don't know if the fire burned over the ski area.

This is so sad. I read in the news the fire is presumed to have been sparked by fireworks. I’ve never understood the appeal do-it-yourself fireworks. Whereas I love a big, professional fireworks display, the noisy backyard variety seem dangerous and rather pointless.

Agree on the personal fireworks. We had a huge fire here in the Columbia River Gorge a few years ago. It's amazing in a very good way how much less fireworks we hear around the 4th now, compared to the decades before the fire.

More pictures from the Poeville fire at the top of Peavine. The scar line is pretty obvious.

As noted in Phil's post above, the bench is not burned but it did melt a little bit.

The thing I found fascinating is that the snowboards burned with little left of them but the top sheet blowing in the wind, but this charm on a piece of twine seems almost untouched.
