We're back in Seattle now, but photographically it's still plants, animals, and the dog. Not the news events I used to shoot in the good ole days.

200919 floating leaf Interlaken.jpg

I couldn't even see the spider silk that caught this leaf.

200919 Six Thirty lamp shadow.jpg

My dog Six Thirty fascinates on things, usually on the ceiling, that the rest of us can't see.

200921 dewy spider web calm water.jpg

A dewy morning by Puget Sound.

Here's another talented former colleague: Tom Reese.

Photo is of the west face of Mt. Timpanogos and of the summit shelter from a distance. A portion of the trail to the summit can be seen traversing across the rocky face on the far left side. I am in the process of descending in the opposite direction along the summit ridge on my way to dropping down to the so-called Mt. Timpanogos glacier.

A close-up photo of the graffiti covered summit shelter.

This photo is taken from Emerald Lake of some of the east side of the summit ridge. If one looks closely, the very top of the summit shelter can barely be spotted poking up from the ridge.

The relatively new Tappan Zee Bridge at night from Tarrytown. It runs across the very wide section of the Hudson River, called... the Tappan Zee. Named by the Dutch over 350 years ago. It really does look like a small sea, zee, in Dutch. The Tapans were a Native tribe there.

No one is happy about the ridiculous new name, the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. Imagine a rebuilt Oakland Bay Bridge being named the Arnold A. Schwarzenegger Bridge.

^^ OH wow. That's prime color there. Here in MA we've got yellow birches and some of the maples are turning red, but not like that yet. You guys are ahead of us.

The undergrowth in the woods is turning. These ferns go white, not yellow.

That time of year again.

Top of Mt Equinox in Manchester, VT looking south. Hiked up the last time like 15 years ago. Took a car this time, it’s a heavy toll. There’s a new building at the top. 63F at top, 79F at bottom.

Photos from today's run. And yesterday's. Birch leaves have turned yellow and are dropping.
fullsizeoutput_f06.jpeg

Those leaves can make negotiating the obstacles interesting.
fullsizeoutput_f10.jpeg

Everything is dotted yellow.

The understory is turning fast now - lots of ferns and other things that I have no name for.
fullsizeoutput_f11.jpeg

There's still a lot of green. This is just the beginning.

For fun, I cycled the Iron King trail loop the opposite way on Monday. It is amazing how one sees things differently 180 degrees around.

And then as I emerged from the rocky part of the trail, I saw this view. The left hand peak of the sawtooth mountains in the distance is Arizona Snowbowl, although (grrrr ...) remarkably devoid of snow at the moment.

Sadly some of the Napa and Sonoma wineries are now burning in the Glass Fire.
Castello di Amorosa Winery in Calistoga could have a fire sale !
(click photo to enlarge - I can't make it larger)
