International (Europe/Japan/Southern Hemisphere) Paris to Verbier by car, Ideas for stops?

We've got essentially a day and a half to go from Paris to Verbier. Any ideas of places to visit and a place to stop for the night? It doesn't have to be direct.

Yes, did it to Geneva airport last year then played find the rental return. I thought nyc was bad for signage. Google took us to some random lot. It was a Jason Bourne segment in slomo.
