Killington Weekend Report 5/27-29
Warm summertime air rolled in for the final spring meltdown. Large bear crossed under the Superstar chair half hour before opening bell on Friday. Lined up two by two in the hay to walk on the lift carrying our equipment that went on your lap. Full soft carpet of groomed snow with top to bottom skiing both Friday and Saturday for a few early hour laps. Several weak spots turned to smud and snirt before noontime on both days. Headwall landing strip melted into a rocky road with the marshmallow being totally consumed. Shorts, skirts, kilts and all sorts of summertime wear was the correct attire. Face plants in the mud were rewarded with cheers from the lift. Lots of scrapes and bruises to go around with every run getting progressively more difficult. Season closed out with Free Skiing on Sunday. Last chair toast and party on Skye Peak was cut short as thunder and lighting moved in. Racing down Superstar with lighting over head let us know that the season was done.
