Mt. Sputnik Dawn Patrol. After shoveling snow the previous day and waking up to more snow overnight. I knew I would have to shovel more snow. I woke up early and headed out just after first daylight. First, I needed to follow Mt. Sputnik's policy: "If it is deep enough to shovel, it is deep enough to ski."

Way to select appropriate terrain given the avalanche forecast. Was the skin track too steep?
Did you have your beacon?

I dug pits the previous day as well as that morning. I was confident of the stability of the snow. I was also lead by avy rescue dog Penny, so I knew I would be safe.
I didn't need to skin since the lodge at Mt. Sputnik is at the top of the runs. The bootpack back up wasn't bad at all.
P.S. I left my beacon in my car and lived to tell about it.
