Pacific NW/AK/BC Mt. Hood/Timberline May 8, 2019

After getting jealous from reading about the Pugski May adventures to A-Basin I decided I needed to get one more day of skiing in. My 17 yo son had the day out of school so we went up to Timberline today. We got there a little before the lifts opened and it was a beautiful day!

The terrain is limited this time of year but the snow was pretty good. By noon, however, it starts getting s little soft and mash potato thick.

The conditions at Hood look like when I was there last year around mid-June, at that time I was able to ski from the top of Palmer all the way to the bottom of Magic Mile, which is unusual for that time of the year. Not sure if I’ll make the trek from north of Seattle this year.

It doesn’t look like race camps have set up lanes yet.

Right now you can ski all the way to the bottom of Stormin Norman from the top. If the lifts were open you could ski lower as there appears to be good coverage. No camp lanes set up yet.
