"Power don't come from a badge or a gun. Power comes from lying. Lying big, and gettin' the whole damn world to play along with you. Once you got everybody agreeing with what they know in their hearts ain't true, you've got 'em by the balls."

"Most people think Marv is crazy. He just had the rotten luck of being born in the wrong century. He'd be right at home on some ancient battlefield swinging an axe into somebody's face. Or in a Roman arena, taking his sword to other gladiators like him. They woulda tossed him girls like Nancy back then."

"Lucille's my parole officer. She's a dyke, but God knows why. With that body of hers she could have any man she wants."

"If I'm not mistaken, that's an army barracks over there.

No mistake, Lieutenant. This the headquarters of the Wehrmacht Alpenkorps.

Oh, swell. Do you have any other surprises I should know about?

I thought you knew, Lieutenant. Why do you think we were chosen for his mission as if not to make social contact?

You mean we're gonna go down there? Mingle with the German Army?

Of course. Why do you think we're not dressed as German sailors?

We'll be recognized as strangers.

Training troops come and go all the time. What are six new faces among 600 new faces?

Look, Major, this is primarily a British operation. I'm an American. I don't even know why the hell I'm here.

Lieutenant, you're here because you're an American."

"Major Wilner speaking. Ja, Colonel.

Can you describe him?

That will not be necessary. Ask him to show you his right forearm.

Certainly.

There are two parallel scars, about three centimeters apart.

The scars are there.

Ask how he get them.

How did you get those?

I was born with them.

He says he was born with them.

That is right. Tell him he's a traitor.

Tell him he's a renegade.

That is Schmidt. No question about it."

"And Major Wilner, Kesselring's Cheif of Intelligence?

He truly believes me to be one of his top agents in Italy.

I've been feeding him useless, false, and out of date information for a few years."

This isn't just a thousand to one shot. This is a professional bloodsport. And it can happen to you. And then it can happen to you again.

Lotta people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well. When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

To a New Yorker like you, a hero is some kind of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three Tigers.

^^^Actually that's from Apocalypse Now.

"The horror. the horror."

"Terminate...with extreme prejudice."

"Saigon...shit."

"Charlie don't surf."

"Someday this war's gonna end."

"Why do you guys sit on your helmets?"
"So we don't get our balls blown off."

Then the random ones
"you've got a baby........ in a bar..." (Sweet Home Alabama)

Then ones with classic lines but not dozens of quotable ones such as The Shining and The Godfather.

When I was in college, playing football, we would be at preseason practice for about three weeks before anybody else arrived on campus. Sleepy small town. The owner of the local movie theater gave the team free passes. It was air conditioned.

There were about four movies playing, and I think in 1975, the only one of interest was Jaws. A half dozen of my friends saw it two or three times a day for three weeks.....and memorized the entire soundtrack.

We be out on the practice field and they would be going through it.
"Hooper drives the boat, Chiefy, you chum the shit......"

I probably only saw it a dozen times, at that point. These guys, 50 or so!

Blues Brothers. Had the CD of the soundtrack stuck in one of our cars for over a year. You pressed the button and had one choice. Got a bit old.........
