Not sure my 100mm xc fully with xc tires and seat way above handlebar (droperposts are overrated) was proper fit for these trails, but as I had no intention to walk down, so there was no other options then just ride it :)

No need to excuse you. Its the crafstman not the tool.
If it were me, I may make an excuse that I'm a chicken.

That looks like a fun ride and a great way to social distance.
It was really busy up there, but my biggest fear was the stupid port-a Potties in the campground, which were kinda busy! :geek::poo:
Back to riding our home trails today, and there’s just no comparison.

That’s what they say when they come down to your trails ;)

My nephew came by with his first real MTB for the holiday

The weather has been perfect with high temps in the Mid 70’s.

Its getting hot again in NW Reno, so we decided to go to Mt Rose to get some riding in. It was 60º when we started, which almost felt chilly but we got warmed up quickly and it was a great temperature for a ride up high.

It will be a while before I want to ride Peavine again.
For @4ster
Some mountain wildflowers.

I don't think I'll be doing that with the Sh-E-Beast

Beauty of a ride for me today. Up to Star Lake, across the TRT to Monument Pass & down Cold Creek. Great mix of climb, tech, views & flow. Only saw a few other souls...

I'm finally out of the dark ages and the kiddos now have mountain bikes! Somehow, I've bought three bikes for our two kids in the last week!?!

I was planning to keep them on BMX bikes and continuing to hang the pump track for the next year, so bought a new BMX bike to size up the boy last week. I told my buddy, and he said he had an XS Hardrock with 26" wheels his kid outgrew and though it would fit. I figured it would be too big but bought it from him to hang on to for next year.

Amazingly, the bike actually fits them at 8 years old and they have been fighting over it. Yesterday, another almost identical red Hardrock (year newer but cantilever brakes vs disks) popped up on CL. I responded immediately offering the full $230 that was in line with BBB. I was first of five responses within an hour of it being posted and had the bike in the back of my truck an hour later.

Here's our first ever MTB ride together last night in a nearby open space.

They're both naturals having been on striders since they can walk. The boy has always had some freakish cycling skills which continue to show on a mountain bike. At 3 he jumped on a pedal bike and started riding without training wheels. He got up that very steep hill on the second try. Just a natural.

On to a new era!

My son and I completed the Revolution Enduro race in Eagle, CO over the weekend. We pre-rode the lower leg Friday eve and the entire race on Sat, with the race on Sunday. About 55 miles, 7K of vert, 9K of descent. Here’s Axel’s Strava for the race.

This was a pro level race with participation limited to 175 due to COVID. We raced in stage groups with check-in at mid-mountain stage start - you had to shuttle yourself, which meant about 6 hours of mountain road driving driving rigs up for pre-run and taking a rig back down as the shuttle rig.

We camped above the start to avoid having any extra race day climbing.

Fri evening ride from town, and back down World’s Greatest and Elmers (Stage 4).

The full pre-run except the climb up Hardscrabble FS road. The singletrack out here is more open range cow path than biking. Dropping into stage 1 is a screamer on this crap and then into creek fall line rock garden that is steep and continues for about a half mile.
