Why do you say that?

Mountain biking is difficult and requires persistence and repetition, along with sustaining injuries over time.

People who bought bikes because of COVID are likely already past the honeymoon phase (e.g. the first 1-2 miles) so I suspect we’ll see some good inventory on the resale market at asking prices will keep said bike gathering dust in the garage corner.

My kid already told me he is going to bike less when he gets back to regular school, sport s and stuff. But its worked out well because if he's bored which is everyday he'll just go for a ride with a friend.

While the honeymoon phase might have passed, I don't think the denial phase has started, so in most cases, it will still be months until the bikes hit the secondary market and in most cases, depending on region, it might not be until next Spring.

This is from where @Plau and I rode this AM. It is the top of Peavine and area called Mahogany Forest. Tricia and I have been riding up there recently.

OK, I'm not seeing the forest part.......but it still looks fun!

There are some wooded sections. This is from a little over a week ago in Mahogany

Another day of ridin' and slayin'.

A mining structure along a new piece of trail.

Keeping the motos out.

Our trails are really nice when they aren't blocked by trees.

I got some help with this one as a couple riders arrived and offered to help. The top (left in picture) of this one just fell straight down. The root end of this got up ended and toppled down the hill below it with their help.

I have gained enough confidence to cut out these trees that are hung up. It just takes some thinking in advance.

The last two for the day.

Done.

The wildflowers have been kind of sparse this year. At least along the trails.

This was overflow parking. I've never seen this before. Ya, there are a lot more people out this year.

@Doug Briggs, where are these magical trails? It's hard for us to squeeze out a 4 or so day road trip, but one of these days it'd be fun to head that way.

Has anyone noticed if the great bike craze has extended to general exercise and outdoors? Hiking trails near SLC are noticeably more crowded, so I suspect it is more than biking?

Edit: weird times when if we wanted to we could probably sell our mountain bikes for more than we paid.
Pretty much. Its a great time to upgrade if you have your sights on something that is available.
It worked out well for us.

95% of the rides I post are from my house, just hop on a bike and go.

Today's ride was a drive to, about 15 minutes away.

But look at all those cars!
We were at the trailhead at 8. This was about 1130 upon our return. Lots of people were just showing up and getting started on rides as we were departing, so we missed a lot of civilization.

Edited to add that this is Sunday. Monday through Thursday or a totally different game. Far fewer people are on the trails.
