A final day in Gunnison. Aberdeen Loop way out in the SW corner of Hartman is almost like an alpine climb, 4 miles up and in, starting in a wash and then mixing switchbacks with typical Hartman routing through any available rock formation.

The reward was bomber 2.5 mile continous descent across mildly techy ledges and bermed flow through the sage.

Lots of ledge climbs at the apex of switchbacks kept the difficulty level up - blue/black rated but nothing to cause too much trouble. Pretty sweet 8 mile loop and would definitely ride again - that’s the kind of trail I wish I had available for repetition of a 90 minute ride of solid vert, awesome scenery, mixed tech sections, and a long screaming descent.

And then I got suckered into an afternoon ride. We did Rattlesnake again, black diamond rated with some pretty technical slickrock sections.

And then all the way up dropping Skyline to Rocky Ridge (every possible tag through the clumps of rock features and finally out through Becks.

About 3 miles of techy climbs and obstacles with each trail featuring a long fast flow full of rollers. The downhill brain was willing to keep the body moving for the final assault with rain mixed in.

At the bottom of Becks. 50 miles of mixed blue/black riding over 3 days, 2 rides each day. I’m toast.

My heart also bleeds for you, but in a good (and slightly jealous) way!

I gotta get there next spring, when I'm in the sort of neighborhood for a wedding.

This was the first time I’ve taken a MTB focused trip. The time and place were perfect and I was literally wearing rose colored lenses, but damn that was good.

Quite the scenery.

I could totally ride today. Not sure what I’m going to do with myself.

Is it just me? This is a nearly straight shot out the front door.

I'm not sure what the precise slope angle is where multiple steps get real tricky, but I'm not sure I'd test it on such a long set!

My advice is worth what you paid for it.

@nay, you are making me nostalgic (I lived in that area many years ago). I think a road trip next week is now on the list!

I was sporting the new 6D ATB-1T Evo helmet. Review coming soon.

GREAT tech, IMO. Seems like an equal or possibly superior approach than MIPS.

I've got a couple of throttle-twisting buddies that swear by them.

Kali and a few others that I can't recall at the moment follow a similar approach.

Saw some moose and chased a deer down the trail yesterday up on the North Fork trails in the upper Ogden Valley. Only rode this route once before about 4 or 5 years ago when the trail was brand new. It is short but sweet!

It’s been a whirlwind of a week thus far. Went to Fruita, CO for a Trek Dirt Series womens clinic, which was amazing. I wrote up a full report, in a separate thread, if anyone is interested. Then rode the Kokopelli trails up to Horsethief Bench on Monday. Decided to attempt the drop in...

Made it down the top part smoothly...then over the bars

The rest of the ride went much better:
