A little snow ride up and over, with nice warm and dry sunny exposures, but tbh the snow kept the pea gravel in better shape than bone dry for the descent and caused no issues.

And then ripping back down into the red rock.

The peninsula was a combination of dry, frozen mud, slick mud, sand and lake bed. I'd done the perimeter trail a good bit over the years but not the inner trail system. I used to ride the old roads when I lived in Frisco. The cutting of the trees has really helped the sight lines.

The reservoir is down 21 feet, exposing lots of new terrain.

There is a trail called Scenic Loop. This is the scenery.

I'm skiing tomorrow morning.

I rode just the 10 mile out and back at Picture Rock yesterday. It's been a while- sit bones brutalized. And a weird ride. I got stuck in a bunch of places I'd normally clear, but cleared some places I never have. I think there was some trail improvement/sanitization, but I also think that some existing sections just looked less daunting, the way they sometimes do as you progress. I know it was cooler than the summer, but my heart rate never went up very high, and I haven't done anything cardio related in a long time. All very weird. All the work on my core in the gym definitely pays off riding - stability was bomber.

A couple of storms the past few weeks have begun to limit the riding around here. We had our first snow on the valley floor on October 10. Although most of it melted quickly except the upper elevations, much of the soil around here is clay which becomes a gooey, sticky mess when wet. With this in mind one needs to be careful about where and when they go as some north facing areas will not dry out this time of year & bad Khama follows those who leave ruts & hoof prints in the mud. I have even had to resort to the road bike a few times.

It's been rain, rain, rain here. I'm hoping to get a ride in today. I hope it's not the last one, but snowmaking has started. Might pull out the 20 gauge and chase grouse for a week or two if the weather doesn't improve for riding.

New bikes are (almost) always fun. New toy day, WOOT WOOT!!!

Did a huge loop of the Falls Creek Trail network yesterday, just north of Carson, Washington. Great stuff. Likely the last one of the season before snow (and it was cool, with a 34 start and 38 finish with plenty of frozen trail along the way).

Boy, it's hard to see in the deep woods with the sun so low this time of year!

Rode last weekend at Annadel. We mostly stayed on the fire roads, the "easy" trails up there, but there was some fun single track thrown in. There were lots of people out: equestrrians, hikers, trailrunners, and mountain bikers. Annadel is a fun place to ride.

Lake Ilsanjo, a good place to cool off on a hot day.

This is the Canyon trail, one of the main fire roads leading up into the park. It's a good climb.
