Moose charges cyclists in Alaska

Holy Cow They had to close the Glenn Highway Trail in Alaska near Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson after moose attacks cyclists.

KTVA caught it on a live feed while doing a news story.

*KTVA was on the scene video'ing the moose for nearly an hour and was staying far away to avoid agitating the mama moose. They only intervened after the moose charged the cyclist and appeared to be a danger to the cyclist.

The cyclist took a pretty tough fall. He looked pretty stunned and unsteady on his feet.

This was an hour long video that was cut down.
I'm pretty sure that the cyclist we see in that video was taken by surprise by finding a moose and her babies on the trail, but there was another cyclist just 10 minutes before the end of the video who stopped to take video or pictures of the moose. That dude was not using good judgement.

That dude was so lucky. A cows #1 weapon are her hooves. Those long legs and sharp hooves can kill and mame. The rider was smart enough to stay down, if she had perceived a threat he would have been turned into hamburger. Notice she did not head butt the guy but turned, that was a shot across his bow.

If you read Bad Bob's post, you'll see what appears to have happened.
Either way you look at it, if you're a cyclist and you see that animal coming at you, you're feeling a little intimidated.
Basically, mama moose charged the cyclist to say, "stay away from my babies".
If the guy were to have gotten up and approached, he'd have been in serious trouble from mama moose.
